2006 JOURNAL PRICING

"As we enter our sixth year of renewals with our core group of journals we announce the following price increases. Over the first five years of renewals with these journals we were successful in maintaining prices, in spite of two postal increases and a modest rise in production costs over the period, and in an environment where our competitors have increased their prices by over thirty percent. This year, however, a third rise in postal rates together with increased journal development costs require us to implement these new rates. As a courtesy to current subscribers, however, for a limited period of time we will honor renewals at the old rates (thus current subscribers may enjoy the sixth year of renewal with no price increase). We continue to thank the Editors-in-Chief and the contributors for the exceptionally strong new subscription and renewal rates to our journals, validating the quality of the Editors-in-Chief, the editorial boards, the published papers, and the important contributions these journals make to their respective disciplines. We encourage individual researchers, academic libraries and scholarly societies to consider our journal publishing philosophy of maximizing the subscriber audience for our journals and thus obtaining financial growth through new subscriptions and exceptional renewals as an alternative to the higher price/fewer subscribers approach of our competitors."
